The Assembly/Packaging Lead is responsible for overseeing a group of assembly workers on automated and manual lines.  Under the supervision of the Shift Supervisor and overall authority of the Production Manager, the Lead coordinates the production lines assembly and packaging work for assigned orders.
  • Follow specifications on provided orders and complete assigned jobs.
  • Create and print applicable labels for assigned job orders.
  • Set up and adjust processes on assigned lines.
  • Set up and operate machinery and equipment, as needed.
  • Assign tasks to line workers.
  • Train and motivate line workers to facilitate assembly/packaging line work.
  • Perform regular inspections of items produced to assure client specifications are met.
  • Coordinate all activities on multiple assigned jobs to ensure lines meet departmental goals.
  • Monitor and communicate line progress to supervisor/manager.
  • Ensure ongoing organization and cleanliness of assigned line areas.
  • Document training, inspections, assignments, time and productivity for assigned lines.
  • Comply with and enforce all policies and procedures on assigned lines.
  • Follow safe-working practices at all times.
  • Assist with training of new Leads, as assigned.
  • Perform line assembly work, as needed.
  • Other related duties, as assigned.
High school diploma or equivalent required; plus 2 years of experience supervising/leading others or running packaging or assembly lines preferred.
  • Basic computer data entry and navigation skills,
  • Ability to analyze a situation to resolve routine, and some non-routine, problems,
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in changing situations,
  • Effective verbal communication skills with a diverse group of individuals,
  • Detail-orientation and ability to identify errors,
  • Ability to motivate oneself and others to complete tasks,

  • Ability to read and interpret documents, instructions and photos,
  • Basic mechanical aptitude,
  • The trait of being reliable to regularly report to work promptly, as scheduled,
  • Availability to work some overtime during the workweek and/or on weekends,
  • Ability to move frequently about the line area and facility,
  • Ability to position oneself to lift, carry or otherwise move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
The Assembly/Packaging Lead works in a well-lit factory environment with exposure to shop elements such as moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles and moderate to loud noise.
